| Users review: Since the tragic Hannah Takes the Stairs Layered, clever Alexander Joe Swanbergs last film production quality traditional erratic. Drinking Buddy dropped almost in the middle of the range, because it shows how some of the brewery colleagues dealing with sexual attraction to each other, while the share in other relationships. Kate and Luke use their love for beer as an excuse to hang out while concealing their ambivalence in an alcoholic haze. Improvised dialogue is to provide an entertaining and useful moments, but generally not too much, just mundane exchanges. Two leading players, especially Olivia Wilde, create characters reliable, but Swanberg does not give them anywhere particularly interesting to go. Kate and Luke's initial amiability is dipped in deceit and narcissism, and their contemporary Romeo and Juliette legend becomes a repetitive song and dance routines, which dissipates the energy of the film. Swanberg demonstrated it can do better than this - the final title came at the time. |
