Users review: Wes Anderson is one of the most original creators of film work today. None of his films can be categorized in a particular genre. His latest, The Grand Budapest Hotel, which opened the Berlin Film Festival continues this trend. It is a story within a story within another story. As each photograph was meticulously arranged like a work of art hanging in a museum, history wise Anderson let your imagination run wild. Although the story (Tom Wilkinson), and the story of the story (with Jude Law & F Murray Abraham) have simple stories, history history history that includes most of the movie is a walking train noisy wild storytelling. It has also thrown a lifetime: Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Harvey Keitel, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, and countless cameos. It will delight fans of Anderson, but is more likely intended for art house film that is too eccentric for mainstream audiences. Sets and music is remarkable and even fantasy final appropriations are made (and received another standing ovation from the audience). |
